canterbury police pasifika fono
Last week was definitely a highlight for me, having the privilege of MC’ing and setting the tone for our Canterbury Police Pasifika Fono alongside some incredible people within our Police aiga.
One of the things I value most about the mahi I do is seeing the richness our Pasifika cultures bring, not only to our organisation, but to the communities we serve every single day.
The fono was filled with everything that makes our people special, amazing meaai/food, laughter, storytelling, shared experiences, and honest talanoa about the work happening across different areas of policing. It was also encouraging to see new faces coming through, alongside senior staff travelling from Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Whanganui-a-Tara to tautoko and our Canterbury District Commander standing alongside us.
For me personally, serving alongside my uso’s/brothers Sgt Va’alelei (Steve) Sula and Constable Fa’atonu (Tonu) Tauamiti, makes it all worthwhile. In moments like these, it shifts from just being work… to a real sense of calling.
Fa’afetai tele lava to everyone who contributed, shared, supported, and showed up with heart. Our cultures, our stories, and our people matter.
